Newport 2.jpg“Mellencamp has created an important body of work that has earned him both critical regard and an enormous audience. His songs document the joys and struggles of ordinary people seeking to make their way, and he has consistently brought the fresh air of common experience to the typically glamour-addled world of popular music.” Anthony DeCurtis Rolling Stone.

Join us at Newport Bowls Club next month as we pay tribute to the legendary man we know & love – with a night Mellencamp classics!

Newport 1This August we’re heading South West of Melbourne & returning to the sensational Newport Bowls Club, which you’ll find nestled in the heart of Newport (opposite the Sub Station); Newport’s hidden gem and so much more than a Bowls Club. You don’t need to be a member, a bowler or a local to come along, as the Club has a welcoming environment that can be enjoyed by all. Your night couldn’t get much better with the Bistro offering great meals at reasonable prices, a wide selection of wine or local brews, which can all be enjoyed while listening to the music of the mighty John Mellencamp! Put a call out to your fellow Mellencamp fans and join us in Newport to ‘Check it Out’…

Lutze Family Fun Raiser – Sun 2nd June

  • 14/05/2019

Musicland 2nd June

The Lutze family home was destroyed by a devastating fire May 4th, due to an electric blanket. Thankfully they all escaped and no one was seriously injured or worse. They unfortunately lost their beloved pets. But right now, until the insurance side is sorted out, they are left with no clothes, shoes, toiletries and essentials. Their daughter is due to move into her new house and everything they have been collecting for the last five or so years for their new home is destroyed. Most will know Andy Lutze and those of us that do, know how caring and thoughtful he is. He always lights up a room with his bubbly personality. Andy Lutze is the front man for one of Australia’s Premier Tribute Shows in Gold Chisel. They gladly give up their time in support of worthy charities and family events. It is time for us to join together and show our support for this family in need.

This special event starts at 10am and will run till midnight Sunday the 2nd of June. Scarecrow will be performing one set of Mellencamp ditties, along with some of Melbourne’s most established Tribute shows, personalities and cover bands, who are donating their time to help raise some much needed money for this family in need. It’s a huge task to put this event together, as such we’ll be in touch again with some further details on performance times, once we’re advised.

Tickets will be available at the door at $25pp and Kids $10, all proceeds will go to the Lutze Family.

NO RESERVED SEATING FOR THIS EVENT.

Musicland will be holding raffles on the night also. If anyone would like to donate items to be raffled, please email Cathy on musicland@live.com.auMusicland Logo

FSC 1Johnny Cash called Mellencamp “one of the 10 best songwriters” in music. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2018 & the Rock & Rock Hall Of Fame in 2008. In the 80’s  Mellencamp yielded a string of top 10 singles including ‘Cherry Bomb’, ‘R.O.C.K. in the USA’, ‘Small Town’, ‘Paper In Fire’, ‘Jack & Diane’, ‘Hurt So Good’, ‘Crumblin’ Down’ & ‘Lonely Ol’ Night’ just to name a few…Join us this Saturday night for a journey back to the 80’s, that’s when a sport was a sport, and ‘groovin’ was groovin’, and dancin’ meant everything!
